CHILDREN’S UNIVERSITY GRADUATION SUMMER 2019
On Wednesday 26th June 2019, 70 students from The Coleshill School took part in the Children’s University Graduation ceremony at Birmingham University.
Parents proudly watched as their children, dressed in blue and black cap and gowns, received awards in recognition of their dedication to extra-curricular learning activities. The awards were presented by Professor Carl Chin, MBE, Birmingham Community History, and Councillor Flo Nash, Mayor of Solihull. The Coleshill School had 70 Gold Award winners achieving over a 100 hours of learning activities. Students received awards ranging from Gold Undergraduate for 100 learning hours to Gold Postgraduate Awards for achieving over 800 hours. Two students received a Gold Doctorate and Gold Fellowship for 900 and 1000 hours. This year was particularly special with two dance groups performance in the awards ceremony.
The Children’s University Trust provides 7 to 14 year olds with exciting and innovative learning activities and experiences outside school hours. The passport to learning has been created where students collect stamps for hours of accredited learning which contribute to the award of a certificate.
Miss Blunt, Enrichment and Children's University coordinator commented “It was a fabulous event in a beautiful setting and we were all inspired by the ceremony and guest speakers, and Professor Carl Chinn. We are so proud of our students and what they have achieved. The only challenge was re-locating their caps after they were all thrown in the air in celebration on the University Grounds.”
